Who say guys dont go to afternoon tea?....Ok, sound diva....or sissy....but that is what I get from those aunty, chicks and little gal when me and another friend of mine who sit down at YogiTree at The Garden for high tea session.
We bought a groupon ticket for an afternoon tea for 2. It was cheap and healthy set I would say minus off all the weird looking stare from those gals especially 2 young chick pretending to be diva (u know what I mean....speaking with american accent and act cute on same time want maintain standard)
Anyway, this is what we get...
Tea for 2
A piece of cake (we choose pineapple upside down cake)
2 scones
Bruschetta - Pesto chicken bruschetta and grilled vegetable caramelized onion bruschetta. (OK, the one with alfalfa is just not for me...)
Scones (Omg, so sweet)
Verdict : Healthy and nice....The pineapple upside down cake is really good. The Bruschetta is nice too (minus off the alfalfa)....For scones I would say it is nice to eat while it was warm while the macaroon is way to sweet for my liking....
Anyway, somehow another, yogitree remind me of yogibear....Dont you think so? hehe

Ole Ole Bali
I bet those who went to Bali will remember the dirty duck crispy duck and babi guling. Back in Malaysia, one famous restaurant that serve Bali food will be Ole Ole Bali.
Ole ole bali need no more introduction from any blogger as they manage to have the first mover advantage by being the very first few to serve Balinese food.
The restaurant is well decorated with Balinese theme setting with lot of Buddha painting. Ironic, Bali island are mostly Hinduisme but probably the photo of Buddha give a peaceful and calmness into the environment.
One food that I love in Ole Ole bali have to be its sate lilit. Fresh fish paste wrapped on the lemon grass and grill to perfection.
The nasi campur and ala-carte course normally come with choice of perfectly grilled chicken, seafood or lamb. Another stuff to shout about is the sambal terasi and sambal matah..
Here are some of the food we order. Love the cumi cumi goreng (fried sotong)..

Don't forget a jar of Barley Lime to go together with the meal....
Ole Ole Bali is own by one group call Bali Bistro that provide 5 different Balinese restuarant concept.

Egg Custard, Ipoh
Ipoh is food haven to a lot of people. Besides from its famous taugeh chicken rice, ipoh hor fun, and the dimsum, I notice another attraction would be the egg custard.
A small coffee shop by name of House of Mirror (Tian CHun), serve one of the best egg custard. One can savour for some satay too...which i mean pork, and intestine satay..
The soft and mild sweet egg custard is smooth when you put in your mouth. The bitter sweet caramel added some taste to the bland egg custard but was so well balance on your tongue. Something i definately will ask you to taste..
Do note that the caramel standard is not well define as I tried twice and I notice it come with different sweetness and sometime a bit bitter due to overcooked. Anyway, it still taste good...

Sakura Kristal @ Setia City Mall
Lately I have been hanging out with my friend in Setia City Mall and I found one eating place which is quite good...Sakura Kristal...
Initially I thought they serve Japanese food as the word sakura have mistakenly been intepreted as Japanese to me. However I was shock that they serve variety fusion food from Chinese to perakanan and even western.
I have been hanging out there for twice and they are doing a 50% discount on some of their food in conjunction with their opening in Setia City Mall.
On my firs visit, we order the Signature Peranakan Seafood Curry, Bangkok 'Khaw Pat'and Mango Chicken.
Our drink - Barley Lime, Ribena Fizzy and Sirap Bandung.

The Signature Peranakan Seafood Curry taste really good on our first visit. The aroma is so good and tempting that we finish all the gravy. It goes well with rice and the seafood is fresh. Serving is also huge enough for sharing.

The Thai Fried Rice or they call it Bangkok Khaw Pat is really value for money consider we enjoy 50% off from the original price of RM 9. You hardly get a plate of fried rice outside that cost less than RM 5 nowadays. Not to forget the generous portion and fresh prawn cook to perfection. Lot of 'wok hei' too.

The mango chicken also taste good. Sweet and sour in taste serve with chuncky lean chicken meat, this portion is for those who like healthy food for a twist. I would prefer more sauce for the chicken. Anyway it taste good overall.

On my second visit, I have a family dinner with my mom and dad as well as my sister. We order almost the same food as I am craving for the Signature Peranakan Seafood and Mango Chicken. As my mom like bringal, I order Uncle Bringal serve with their special sauce and My sister opt for Indonesia treasure.
The uncle Bringal (sorry for the bad picture) was good. The bringal is fried to perfection with the special sauce. In deed very special and nice. No complaint from my mom who is very fussy on food.

The Indonesia treasure is fried rice serve with fried chicken and keropok. Another good serving but I dont really taste this much as I am busy with my curry.

I will for sure go back again for more curry next round.....I get to know they have few other branch so you guys can try it out. The food is nice and is reasonably priced.

Kinsahi, Aeon Tebrau City
Recently when I was on business trip to Johor, I went to Aeon Tebrau City for shopping....Well, kononnya the biggest Aeon shopping mall so must visit visit lo...
So after som walk, the empty stomach start to make noice thus my colleague and me start to search for food and we saw Kinsahi. Well, it was a restaurant by a corporation which have chain of restaurant serving fresh japanese food and delicious taiwanese food.
Sadly to say, their branches are currently available in Johor only.
Kinsahi is a restaurant that serve japanese food especially the shabu shabu. So we decided to eat the chicken set for one person. I order miso soup and my colleague go for tomyum. There is few soup selection and lots of sauce to choose from.
Well, cut thing short, lets the photo do the talking....
*** Is not halal so we order one chicken and one pork set....I can tell you, the meat is superly nice...Very thin layer with minimal fats but they give quite a generous portion....worth trying..

Ocen Restaurant, Tanjung Sepat
Recently I went to Tanjung Sepat with the gals to celebrate Wan Ying birthday. Basically Tanjung Sepat is a small fisherman village. Nothing special there except there is some plantation to visit and the forever 'not so romantic' lover bridge...
I am not sure whether it was human natural thought or is a norm that people will associate seafood to fisherman village or anyplace where there is beach. Just to inform you that Tanjung Sepat is not famous for its seafood actually. No doubt there is hundreds of seafood restaurant but not all is sedap sedap belaka lo...
Since we went there without any planning thus we eat at Ocen Restaurant. One can never miss this restaurant as it was located directly next to the Lover Bridge overseeing the muddy beach and of course the view of sunset.
As it was a hot day and some are getting sick with sorethroat we ops for non spicy non fried food.
We order one fried rice to go along with our kongpo mantis prawn, steam white promfet and sweet and sour crab. Oh not to forget some green...We order sweet potato leaf
Fried rice was good. The 'wok hei' is enough to bring up the aroma though there is not much of ingredient it it.
Sweet potato leave is nothing to shout about. We order this because we need some green stuff to go along with our heavy food.
The kongpo mantis prawn is a total disappointment. Being Klangite, I have try many place serving mantis prawn and I had never try such a bad kongpo mantis prawn
The steam promfet is by far the best food we have. The fish were fresh and it was lightly salted with soy sauce and ginger. However, I wish there is more sauce to go with the fish as it get kinda dry after a while.
Well, crab is a must according to the gals. However for me, this crab is just 'off' mode for me. Frankly I know i can somehow cook better than me. Sorry to say my mom cook better sweet and sour crab.
The crab is small size and the sauce is just too sour for my liking. I think they just pour in ketchup and fried with the crab. Nothing to shout about.
Total damage is RM 127 inclusive of 4 coconut drink and few other drink to crunch our thirst....It was a hot day anyway.....

Yut Kee
I probably no need to mention much about this restaurant as it was already so well know among KL people and even tourist....
Situated at a silent road of Jalan Dang Wangi, a few stone throw from Dang Wangi LRT station, this nostalgic restaurant stand proud with their Hainanese breakfast. I had heard about this restaurant for years but have no chance to eat there until last weekend.
My intention is to try the roasted pork that cost RM 14 for 2 small slices or RM 140 for a roll. Basically is pork been rolled up and roasted. However I dont have the chance to taste it as there is no roasted pork serve during that time. You can view the roasted pork photo from the following blogger. www.awhiffoflemongrass.com
There is a lot of nice food in the restaurant and basically everything is nice. They are famous for their Roti Babi, Hainan pork chop, chicken chop, marble cake, Hainan noodles, Roti Kahwin and many more.
As there is only 2 of us,I consider our order as a little too 'tam chiak'. We order Hainanese chicken chop, Hailam bee hoon, Roti babi and our greedy stomach also lead us to Tapau one marble cake and one kaya swissroll.
The Hainan chicken chop was really good. By far one of the best I ever tested. Although the portion I get had a small portion fried until burn but it taste good with the sauce. The sauce was well seasoned and the potato is soft in the inside and a little bit crunchy. Is just awesome.
Roti Babi is a must order food in the restaurant. Is somesort of French Toast with some babi and onion inside. The first time I taste it, I thought it was Tuna because the testure of the pork seem to be Tuna. The reason being, the chef have chopped the pork into such a small pieces and cook it with onion that it turn out almost the same texture like Tuna. The babi with the french toast combination is just too good to describe. c
The Hailam bee hoom came last. By the time it arrive we are already almost full. However our big appetite do not stop us from finish it. The taste of the bee hoon is a bit soaky but the aroma of 'prawn paste' (hope I get it right) that bring out the aroma. As I am not a prawn person, Sam have to finish up the portion mostly by himself. Hehe
Just before we left, our tam chiak mouth decided to take away a slice of marble cake and a slice of swissroll, thanks to those blogger who superly recommend the marble cake here Well, I have no regret ordering this 2 cake...Our car is full of the cake aroma once we close the door. The aroma is so seducing that we finish the cake within seconds after we start driving off from the restaurant By the way, when we left the restaurant the crowd start to built up. If you arrive by 10.30, dont be surprise that the queue is few shop long and if you are those who 'pantang' to share table, my advice is you bring a big geng or friends or family or else I suggest you detour to other place. Is very common you have to 'tarp thoi' in this restaurant.

Cafe de Nata, Macau
Macau is famous for its egg tart. As we have a very short trip to Macau, we wanted to find the best available egg tart in Macau town.
Koi Kei Pastry shop is everywhere selling the egg tart and other famous pastries but most review quoted that it was too commercialise and lost the taste of originality. Thus we make our way to Cafe de Nata also known as Cafe de Margeret.

To find this shop, I believe we consulted few locals people and we have lot of problem when communicate with them. The road are all in portugese and the people there speak cantonese. Those portugese word do not directly translated into Cantonese and it was really a big trouble to locate the shop. Anyhow...we manage to find it.

verdict: Yes, definately a much better egg tart compare to those available in Malaysia. The egg is very aromatic. Pastry is thin and crunchy. The egg is so smooth and silky and it is warm despite been kept for sometime.
Really something worth trying.

Goku Raku Ramen
There is new ramen shop in Mid Valley and I decided to try it out the other day.

Famous for it broth which they identify themselves as "ultimate tonkutsu broth'...They even got a page on the menu that teach the patron how to enjoy the broth to the maximum.
When I was there, I had just finish my ultimate gym and I am craving for something filling yet healthy thus I order the tofu salad and their famous ultimate goku raku ramen.

The ramen come first. The aroma of the 48 hours boiling hot broth is so strong but the amount of oil on top of the broth is a turn off. There is leek and garlic oil that make the soup so aromatic. One things I have to admit is I don't really like the broth because it taste too porky. Not to say I am not a fan of pork, I love pork but the aroma was just too strong for my liking. The ramen was OK, springly and hard seem like uncook but bareable. The aromatic eggs turn out to be hard boil egg and nothing to shout about.
A flip through the menu, their char siew seem expensive thus I put a very high standard on the char siew....It turn out to be a piece of pork with thick fat and it was pretty bland. Again the porky taste is turn off.
My friend say maybe I do not know how to enjoy the ultimate broth but she end up admitting the broth aroma is too strong and too oily thought we reminded the waiter we wanted less oily.
Anyway it was a good try and I believe those who really like aromatic and strong taste broth should try it out.
The tofu salad turn out to be good. White chinese tofu is normally bland and taste awful if eat it raw but the salad with sourish dressing turn the salad to be impressive. Worth trying

Anyway....stay by for my Macau HK food posting....Very busy nowadays so no time to post about it....

Chatime vs Gong Cha
Well.....it is another hit on town....Years back it was donut....now it was bubble tea...
As fiery competition as donut between Big Apple and J.Co, this round competition saw Chatime and Gong Cha running to be the favourite bubble tea in Malaysia...
So here my verdict
Chatime....lot of variety..pearl is nice and chewy

Gong Cha....My vote go to gong cha as the tea is more fragrance and smooth. However the pearl is a bit hard and too chewy for my liking....

Well, those who like bubble tea so much....my advice is you can go ahead with drinking but not too much.....Is still consider a processed beverage where the syrup, milk powder and flavour powder is factory manufactured.....SO....just be moderate

Pastis - The Garden
Been to this place in The Garden call Pastis for tea time set twice in a week. Haha...
Nothing fancy about it but just need to post it here to introduce the tea set.

As you see from the picture, the tea set come with a tower of 3 layers of foods ranging from cakes, sandwishes, creme brulee, tiramisu, chocolate and toasted pizza. It also come with tea or coffee for 2 person. A long list of coffee and tea is available for patron to choose from. Normal tea would be earl tea, breakfast tea, chamomile, peppermint tea and the list go on....
So next time while you are waiting for your girlfriend doing her shopping or to take a rest after a long hour walking across mid valley and the garden, stop by at Pastis - Ground floor of The Garden, opposite Isetan main entrance....

Ding Tai Fung
If my memory never fail me, I had try Ding Tai Fung for 3 times and I never snap photo using my camera before....Yeah, how failure of me...
Anyway, big name no need much to mentions.....Ding Tai Fung serve famous Shanghainese food. Famous for its Xiao Long Boa and La Mien, the restaurant had expended to Malaysia with 3 outles - Pavilion, The Garden and Empire Gallery.
Xiao Long Pau - come with few choices such as normal version or with crab meat.

My favourite food of all - Stewed beandcurd with honey sauce

I order it on all the visit. Is so nice....a good appertiser or as side dishes for your La Mien...
Hot & Sour Soup La Mien - be prepare to have a hot stomach especially you dare enough to put in some hot chilli oil....Is good and sweaty experience!!!

Another food i try before is the pork chop fried rice.
Sorry as there is no photo....However the portion is so huge that it can fit 2-3 person. The fried rice is so so and nothing to shout about. But if you think Xiao Long Bao is not enough for you, a fried rice is just nice for you.
