Goku Raku Ramen

There is new ramen shop in Mid Valley and I decided to try it out the other day.

Famous for it broth which they identify themselves as "ultimate tonkutsu broth'...They even got a page on the menu that teach the patron how to enjoy the broth to the maximum.

When I was there, I had just finish my ultimate gym and I am craving for something filling yet healthy thus I order the tofu salad and their famous ultimate goku raku ramen.

The ramen come first. The aroma of the 48 hours boiling hot broth is so strong but the amount of oil on top of the broth is a turn off. There is leek and garlic oil that make the soup so aromatic. One things I have to admit is I don't really like the broth because it taste too porky. Not to say I am not a fan of pork, I love pork but the aroma was just too strong for my liking. The ramen was OK, springly and hard seem like uncook but bareable. The aromatic eggs turn out to be hard boil egg and nothing to shout about.

A flip through the menu, their char siew seem expensive thus I put a very high standard on the char siew....It turn out to be a piece of pork with thick fat and it was pretty bland. Again the porky taste is turn off.

My friend say maybe I do not know how to enjoy the ultimate broth but she end up admitting the broth aroma is too strong and too oily thought we reminded the waiter we wanted less oily.

Anyway it was a good try and I believe those who really like aromatic and strong taste broth should try it out.

The tofu salad turn out to be good. White chinese tofu is normally bland and taste awful if eat it raw but the salad with sourish dressing turn the salad to be impressive. Worth trying

Anyway....stay by for my Macau HK food posting....Very busy nowadays so no time to post about it....

Amarin Heavenly Thai

Since coming back from Thailand not long ago, I become a fan of tom yam and thai food. After failing to satisfied my palate in Thai Thai, Sunway Pyramid months ago, I decided to have some try at yet another Thai Restaurant namely Amarin Heavenly Thai.

Liang Bing suggests to go to flying chilies in The Garden, but I opt Amarin Heavenly Thai in Mid Valley Megamall instead. Not knowing that actually Thai Thai, Flying Chilies and Amarin Heavenly Thai were managed by the same company, I was surprise to see the same menu, at these 3 places.

Here is what we ordered.

Pattaya Fried Rice with drumstick – RM 16
The fried rice is tasty with lot of ingredient but the drumstick is not juicy and tender enough. The worst part, the drumstick is not fresh and taste like it was just out of the freezer.

Tom Yam Mee Hoon – RM 15
Sorry to say but I think any restaurant can cook better tom yam than this

Pineapple fried rice – RM 16
One of the best pineapple fried rice I ever tasted. There is chicken floss on top of the rice which makes it taste very special and nice.

Chicken Basil Leave with Rice – RM 16
It looks so normal but it taste quite nice.

Green Curry Chicken – RM 16
I guess the kitchen it either run out of basil and mint or the chef forgotten about it…It taste like normal curry except the color was green!!! Really a turn off…

Thai Ice Tea – RM 9
I tasted the real Thai Ice Tea in Thailand and it taste so heavenly. But Thai ice tea in Amarin was a turnoff for me….

Natural Green Tea – RM 8

Cappucino Ice Blended – RM 10

Total burn in out wallet: RM 161.60 for 6 pax

Vietnamese Cuisine

Hohohoho.. This is the first time I contribution the food section in this blogspot.. NOW, I would like to introduce this restaurant to you all, CoDo upstair of Little Vietnam...(Same management but serve different menu)

This restaurant is located at the top floor of Megamall Mid Vallay. Is beside the Korea Food Restaurant, opposite the GSC Cinema.

The interior design for this restaurant is quite elegant. Bottom seat is like sitting outside the mamak stall, while upstair like clasiccal style of Vietnamese restaurant (we also can look at the chefs whether they are lazy on cooking or not as well).

Look at their menu will makes us feel more hungry than ever.

Since we are two person in the restaurant, I can represent you all the set dinner (2pax) only.

Firstly, the appetizer, DRAGONFRUIT SALAD, combination of dragonfruit, minched peanut and vietnamese sour sauce. This will makes you has more appetizer before you start your meal courses.
CHICKEN BALL SOUP HU TIEU, feels like having "Ipoh Chicken Noodles" while drinking the soup. However, the chicken balls feel like an non-ordinary chicken ball where we can buy in the supermarket. The HU TIEU (noodle) is smooth and is easy to suck directly into your mouth.
LOTUS ROOT PANCAKE, the aroma of this pancake is nice and tasty to eat (surely is nicer than the carrot cake). You can dunk it into the sour sauce to make the pancake juicier and tasty.
VIETNAMESE SPRING ROLL, recommanded to eat it with the vegetable, so that you feel more variety of food inside your mouth (the spring roll is tooooooooo little for two person meal).
TOMATO FRIED RICE, feel like eating the dried srimp fried rice with some chinese meat becon. Don't taste like any tomato at all.
Finally, you will enjoy a cup of drink for each person (ice lime juice, ice lemon tea or soya bean).
The total of this set (including 5% tax, no services tax) is RM 38.50 only. This set is good for the light meal person. Those who can eat a lot, you can eat this set by your own.
