Late Entry - Bazaar Ramadhan Sri Permaisuri

Opp....Is the month of syawal and yet I am here writing something that only happen during the month of Ramadhan...

Sorry for being very busy that I have no time to even update this blog...

We all in Malaysia are very fortunate to have chance to taste delicacy from varies races and during Ramadhan there is nothing better than going for the walk at Bazaar Ramadhan...

Being a busy person, Nicholas and me tyr to find ourselves some time to have a walk in Bandar Sri Permaisuri Bazaar Ramadhan. Although it was almost the syawal, there is still lot of people in the bazaar which 99% of the stall is selling food...(1% selling firecracker illegally)...

At the very starting point of the bazaar there is few nasi campur, nasi kerabu and nasi lemak stall. Everyone is queueing up like hungry food seeker including chinese and Indian.

We spotted a stall with extra ordinary queue which sell Kuih Akok and kuih Bakar. Not wanted to squeeze around with them, I told Nicholas to come back again hoping the queue will be shorter...But good food never open its stall longer so when we finish walking one round and back to the stall, the stall is almost close....Haiz...merely 15 minutes they manage to sell off all...Incredible... We left with dissapointment as there is only Kuih Bakar left...

Popiah, a chinese delicacy, have now become part of Malay food. As you can see their cretivity have lead to creation of Popiah Sambal as well on top of it popiah basah and popiah goreng.

What is a bazaar ramadhan if they didn't have murtabak and ayam percik, both my favourite...For Nicholas who is from Brunei, he proclaimed that he never taste Ayam Percik before....

Ayam bakar, ikan bakar, and other sorta bakar bakar things is also available making the bazaar look smoky...

There is also seller selling soup like soup gearbox, exotic cow tongue, sup tulang, sup kambing and sup ekor...

Other food that couldn't be missing in Bazaar Ramadhan are

Assorted of kuih Muih

Lotsa Drinks stall

Nasi Ayam

Roti John

Goreng-goreng item

Sun Ming Roasted Duck

Staying in Cheras is a gift...There is a lot of nice food especially during the morning and afternoon...

One shop in Taman Connaught is so famous that cars is stopping nearby and create traffic havoc to the place is Sun Ming Roasted Duck. At 12noon, you will see people lining up like a huge dragon from the main door up to the road side despite hot sun or rain...

People are either coming to eat at the shop or "cham liu" back home for lunch... Old aunty and uncle sitting patiently waiting for the food to come accompany by their son and daughter...What a good place to see those obedient son and daughter...hehe...

Roasted duck had become less popular especially to the youngster who aware of healthy lifestyle. Duck are classified under red meat as compare to chicken which was white meat. Duck are full of cholestrol and bad for heart according to some reseacher. However, for older generation like my parent, duck is consider more than delicacy. For Teochew people like my parent and me, I always have chance to eat duck during chinese occasion like Chinese New Year.

Sun Ming roasted duck is real delicacy for me....It was tasty, juicy and the meat is tender. Besides from it tasty Roasted Duck that I personally give a thumb up(HarkauSiewmai Favourite), we from HarkauSiewMai.blogspot also recognize the tasty roasted chicken, charsiew and roasted meat.

Beside these roasted delicacy, one can find other sub menu like spicy pickled vege, fried yong tau fu, braised chicken leg and so on...
Just see how long is the queue(taken during non peak period)...
The shop is very easy to recognize...It is just beside BHP petrol station and beside Domino's Pizza. Remember a visit to Connaught will not be complete without a visit to Sun Ming Roasted Duck shop...Quak Quak....

Woo Pin Fish Head Noodles

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Presenting the first food featured in HarkauSiewmai.blogspot.com

Woo Pin Fish Head Noodles...

Situated at Jalan Ikan Emas, Cheras, just a stone throw from my apartment, this stall have been famous for its mouth watering fish head noodles or in Cantonese we called it "Yu Tau Mai Fan"...

Despite the hot and stuffy condition, hundred of people are queueing up or looking for place to sit. Table are set up beside the road site, inside the shop and even at the pathway of the residential flat. (you can even have chance to sit beside newly wash cloth)

The food there is standard, as they only sell Fish head noodles either small or big in size and also steamed fish which also can be eat together with the noodles.

The fish is fresh and well cooked. The soup which included some milk make the aroma of the noodles very delicious...

Fish noodles with a glass of kat chai (sour plum) is equal to satisfaction...

Woo Pin's fish head noodles open daily from morning to 2pm and close on alternate Monday. The small bowl cost RM 6.50 and large amounted to RM 7.50. They have branches in Taman Danau Desa and another one in Sri Kembangan...Try it out...Taste it yourselves.
