Ah Ping Bak Kut Teh @ SS14 Subang

The blog has been pretty dead for a while due to my busy work+study+diet schedule, that I decided to revive it a little bit :). As usual, small secluded restaurants/shops are my expertise. And this time, I would like to introduce my all-time favourite Bak-Kut-Teh place, Ah-Ping,located in SS 14 Subang. The exact address would be 42, Jalan SS14/2,Subang Jaya. If you are coming from PJ, it would be a 3pm turning at the Bulatan Kewajipan.

Everytime I was there, I will need to park behind the restaurant, which made no difference actually, as it was opened both side. However, this actually proved the popularity of the BKT for those people that would like to have a good BKT without needing to go all the way to Klang.

The reason I like this particular shop is due to the considerably thick soup and their huge portion. We usually ordered 1 half portion for 2 people to avoid wastage. They also serve the BKT with everything-intestines, fat/lean meat, tofu , dried tofu strips or fuzhuk (腐竹), shiitake mushrooms and a few piece of lettuce leaves.

They also serve vege separately, or more commonly known as 'yau coi', a simple plate of vege that comes with soy/ oyster sauce and a little bit of fried garlic/onions. I will usually order a plate of vege to come with a pot of BKT, as it will somehow makes me feel less guilty for allowing my crave overcome my sense. Thus, I would certainly recommend this place highly for those staying in PJ and Subang area.

Eat-zy Teowchew Porridge & Rice

It was a sin for us not to update the blog for such a long time....Sorry for those loyal reader for such a long wait....All the blogger is busy with their exam that ended on Wednesday....So i guess, let put an end to the sleeping blog...

I am sick this few days and have been eating porridge for the pass few days....

That remind me of my porridge experience in Eat-zy Teowchew Porridge at Jalan SS14/2. Teowchew Porridge is a plain porridge eaten with some side dishes which is normally salty in nature...

Famous side dish will be salted egg, salted vege, salted fish, and fried egg with 'choi po' (salted white carrot)

Last month when I first visited Eat-zy Teowchew Porridge, I was make known that they serve one of the best teowchew porridge in the town...They have variety of porridge ranging from plain porridge, taro porridge, sweet potato porridge and unpolished rice porridge.

I order plain rice (because i feel hungry very fast if eat porridge) and 3 side dishes. I have the bean curd with mince pork, salted vegetable (Szechuan vegetable) and pork patty with salted fish...

Beside that they also offer other side dish that I do not oder such as steam fish, variety of green vegetable, preserve vegetable, braised egg, braised pig intestine, and the list go on...

So if you are in SS14, why not you stop by and have a try....

Sorry for the blur picture but you can check out other blogger for the same recommendation www.foodstreet.com.my

Snowflake

Few week back, after a long night of class, we decided to stop by at Snoflake, a taiwanese dessert shop situated just opposite of Asia Cafe. It was same row as Baker Cottage but you have to pay attention on the signboard on 1st floor instead.

One just need to queue up, order and take the UFO and proceed to find a seat....

Yes, UFO....I am not joking!

The high tech beeping UFO is actually a device to show that your order is ready....One can find a seat and start chit chatting with friend and when the UFO beep and vibrate, it mean it is time to collect the dessert that have been ordered earlier.

So we decided to have Grass Jelly Ice with green bean and lotus seed. We also have the grass jelly with yam ball...both is priced at RM 4.90...

Other specialy include the famous Hot Soya Bean with 'Yau Tiao' or in other word is 'Yau Char Kwai'...

Big Reminder: The serving portion is large so if you have small tummy, you can share...

Pizza Brava @ Asia Cafe

The set up of this "stall" in the food court immeduately caught my attention. The deco is inspired by the Italian theme. The one thing that caught me attention most is the brick oven which is used to cook their pizzas. There are quite a number of varities of pizza and pasta...

I ordered the turkey ham pizza.(RM 16)
The crust is thin and smells quite good

Look at the cheese, they are really serious about their ingredients, not only using the plain cheddar cheese like many mamaks do....
Pros: Thin crust, real mozarella & parmesan cheese

Cons: Priced at the high side, and crust though thin, quite normal....

Result: 5/10

Boutique Cafe (Opposite Asia Cafe-Subang Jaya)

At first glance, it looks like a normal boutique selling ladies dresses and providing Fish Spa service.
However, a closer look reveals that theres more to the boutique. Sets of tables and chairs in the shop resembled a restaurant. It is unique+artistic, so we decided to try the food they serve..

However, when we step into this boutique + restaurant + fish spa, theres a confusion caused as it is not a norm to have a meal, surrounded by dresses, or even when ur feet is being nibbled by little fishes..

The reality sink in when we sat in the restaurant.
First, there are two fish spa area where you can hav ur meal while having the spa at the same time...However, one of it is dry, whereas the other is contaminated.
Second, there are lots of mosquitoes started to attack with vengeance when they saw us
Third, the ambiance is not so sophisticated afterall, when closer look is taken, it feeels more like an abandoned boutique with few tops being displayed...

Spaghetti Carbonara with a garlic bread
It was rather dry and carbonara sauce is actually normal mushroom soup from the can, without cheese. We had to request for it to be cooked for a second round with more gravy so that it will resemble a carbonara, instead of olio.

Iced Coffee
When its served, i thought it was a cola, but when tasted, it is indeed coffee with the absence of milk in it. The taste was rather unique, but not as satisfying as our usual coffee shop "kopi ping". It is also rather expensive.

Sandwich set
Nothing special, normal bread with tuna fillings and coleslaw + fries
The person who ate it got sick the next day due to food poisoning(mayb the tuna is not fresh)

Fish Fillet
All the others choose Fish Fillet set which seems delicious from the menu. It tastes and looks nice, but the side dishes that comes with it is mediocre.

Pros: Have a nice store concept, but didnt upkeep.

Cons: Sandwich is not fresh, price is on the high side

Result: 4.5/10 ( o.5 is deducted from the bad sandwich and abandoned fish spa)
